ARISE News will on Thursday July 9, 2026, convene a major national town hall meeting aimed at building consensus on state police and broader national security reforms as concerns over insecurity continue to dominate public discourse across Nigeria.
The event, themed Building a National Consensus for State Police and National Security, will bring together national security leaders, governors, lawmakers, civil society organisations, policy experts, traditional rulers and other stakeholders to deliberate on strategies for securing communities and protecting lives across the country.

The town hall will be co-chaired by Nuhu Ribadu, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and Kayode Egbetokun.
The event will feature Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III as Father of the Day, while former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak will attend as Special Guest Speaker.
Organisers say the gathering would bring together decision makers, security experts and national stakeholders needed to build bipartisan consensus and address Nigeria’s pressing security challenges.

The town hall meeting will hold at the Transcorp Hilton Abuja and will be broadcast live by ARISE News with coverage led by the network’s team of anchors.
The initiative is intended to encourage dialogue and national consensus on security reforms, with a focus on strengthening the country’s capacity to respond to emerging threats and improve public safety.

Organisers also added that a safer Nigeria can only be achieved through collective engagement and sustained national conversations on security policy and implementation.
