One of the biggest women’s cycling races will skirt the northern edge of Preston.
Last month it was confirmed the second stage of the Lloyds Tour of Britain Women’s race is heading for Lancashire. The race takes place on Thursday 20 August.
Starting in Clitheroe and finishing in Blackpool, the exact route is yet to be confirmed, but Blog Preston has obtained what is understood to be the likely route the peloton heads on.

After a dog leg up into the Trough of Bowland, the race will head up through Hurst Green and into Longridge and a likely spectacle as they hurtle down Kestor Lane and across the Stonebridge roundabout.

Before bursting across the Preston countryside to go through Goosnargh, Broughton and Woodplumpton and out into the flat of the Fylde.
It would bring the stage to around the 73-mile mark.
Full road closures, timings and route details are due to be confirmed in the coming weeks.
