It was a family affair for a new University of Lancashire graduate.
Following in the footsteps of her late grandma, mother, and brother by studying at Preston’s university, Georgia Walker graduated earlier this month.
Georgia, 30, graduated with a degree in the psychology of child development.

The 30-year-old said: “My mum completed her midwifery degree in 2008, my late grandma graduated a year later from the forensic psychology course, and my older brother graduated from the games design course in 2017.
“It was only after my grandma passed away in 2018 that I found out she’d even been to university. I was clearing out some things and found her forensic psychology essays and research.
“When I told Andy Morley, one of the psychology academics, about my grandma, he told me he remembered teaching her. It gave me a feeling of belonging, and I just knew it was where I was meant to be.”
The Runshaw College pupil had battles with her mental health and ADHD during her first year of study.
She said the help from the university was supportive. Georgia, who worked as a University Student Ambassador, completed a Foundation course before progressing on to her undergraduate degree.
She added: “I’m really excited to graduate and I know my family are so proud of me. My grandma would’ve been delighted to know I’ve followed her on the same educational path.
“My plan is to help children who have learning disabilities because I was undiagnosed until I was 27, and I feel if I had been diagnosed earlier, I wouldn’t have had as many mental health struggles that I’ve experienced in my life.”
