The 16-year-old will host Party In Orange: A Zumbathon® Charity Event for Maggie’s Newcastle on Saturday 4 July at the White Swan Centre in Killingworth, bringing together 10 fellow Zumba® instructors for two hours of energetic dance, fitness and fundraising.
The event, which runs from 10am until 12pm, is expected to attract participants from across the North East, with dancers of all abilities invited to join the celebration while raising money for the cancer support charity.
This is the second consecutive year that Will has organised the large-scale fundraiser. His inaugural Zumbathon® in June 2025 proved to be a huge success, raising an impressive £3,595.81 for Maggie’s Newcastle and establishing the event as one of the area’s standout community fitness fundraisers.
Looking ahead to this year’s event, Will hopes to make it bigger and better than ever, with more participants, more instructors and an even greater fundraising total.
Despite being just 16 years old, Will has already become a familiar face within the North East fitness community. After becoming one of Europe’s youngest licensed Zumba® instructors in October 2024, he has used his passion for dance and exercise to inspire people of all ages to get active while supporting worthwhile causes.

His fundraising journey began following his family’s experience with cancer after his mum, Belinda Lamb, was diagnosed with Stage 2 ovarian cancer in late 2024. During her treatment, the family received support from Maggie’s Newcastle, giving Will first-hand insight into the vital role the charity plays in helping people affected by cancer.
Determined to give something back, he combined his love of Zumba® with fundraising, creating an event that not only raises money but also brings communities together through fitness and fun.
Rather than organising a traditional charity fundraiser, Will envisioned an event that celebrated positivity, movement and togetherness. The result was this Zumbathon® featuring multiple instructors, non-stop music and an atmosphere designed to encourage everyone to take part.
That vision paid off in 2025, with hundreds of pounds raised before the event had even begun and supporters from across the region helping the fundraiser comfortably exceed its original target.
Now, the teenager is looking to build on that momentum.
This year’s Party in Orange will once again feature 10 instructors joining Will on stage, creating a festival-style atmosphere filled with music, dance and community spirit. The collaborative approach reflects the strong support Will has earned from fellow instructors across the North East, all of whom have volunteered their time to help make the event possible.
As lead organiser, Will has coordinated every aspect of the fundraiser, from securing the venue and recruiting instructors to promoting the event and encouraging local people to get involved.
His efforts have highlighted not only his passion for fitness but also his determination to make a lasting difference within his community.
Funds raised from the Zumbathon® will go directly to Maggie’s Newcastle, which provides free practical, emotional and social support for people living with cancer, as well as their families and friends.
The charity relies heavily on community fundraising to continue delivering its services, making events like Will’s an important source of support.
Beyond the fundraising total, Will hopes the event will also introduce more people to Maggie’s and raise awareness of the wide range of services available to anyone affected by cancer.
For many participants, the event is as much about community as it is about fitness, with the Zumba® session creating an inclusive environment where people can exercise, socialise and support a shared cause.
Will’s commitment to helping others has already made him an inspiration within the local fitness community. Balancing school, instructor commitments and organising a major charity event is no small achievement, yet he continues to dedicate his time to supporting a cause that means so much to him.
His success demonstrates how young people can make a significant impact within their communities, using their own talents and interests to support charities and bring people together.
The return of Party in Orange also reflects the growing popularity of community fitness events across the region, with Zumba® continuing to attract people of all ages thanks to its energetic routines, welcoming atmosphere and emphasis on enjoyment rather than competition.
For Will, however, the focus remains firmly on raising as much money as possible for Maggie’s Newcastle while giving participants an unforgettable morning of music, dancing and positivity.
As preparations enter their final stages, organisers are hopeful this year’s Zumbathon® will surpass last year’s impressive fundraising total of £3,595.81 and continue establishing the event as an annual highlight in the North East’s charity calendar.
