A swathe of homes and businesses will be temporarily without power during the day on Wednesday (8 July).
A spokesperson for SP Electricity North West told Blog Preston: “The outage is from 9am until 11am as we’re carrying out work at the local substation.
“Customers receive a card in the post at least 10 days’ in advance and we also provide text messages which includes on the day.
“Planned power cuts aren’t uncommon and when they do take place, we always proactively reach out to customers and provide at least 10 days’ notice so they have the relevant details.
“These happen for a variety of reasons including repair work, maintenance, new connections etc.
“We also won’t turn the power off before 9am and electricity will be back on before 5pm.”
A notice in The Allied Pharmacy on Sandy Lane, Leyland, reads: “We will temporarily be out of service between the hours of 8.30am – 11.30am on Wednesday the 8th of July due to a planned power cut throughout Leyland.
“During these hours we will not be able to dispense new prescriptions or hand out medication already made up due to the tracking and dispensing system being electronic.
“We will also not be able to sell anything as the till will not be working.
“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
“We will be back operating as usual after 11.30am.”
Vets for Pets Leyland also posted on Facebook to say they have a planned power cut from 9am to 11am, and for emergencies to call 07842026106 as their phone lines will be down during that time.
