A city Hindu temple invited 70 people, including the Mayor of Preston, to take part in a 10km event.
Participants took on a 10km challenge at BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir Hindu Temple to raise funds for both Samaritans and the local homelessness charity, the Foxton Centre.
A volunteer from the city centre temple said the event made a ‘meaningful’ change.
Naina Chauhan, volunteer, BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Preston said: “The BAPS 10K Charity Challenge is about bringing people together through compassion, service and healthy living.
“It has been wonderful to see so many members of our community supporting Samaritans and the Foxton Centre.
“Every participant and volunteer has helped make a meaningful difference, and we are incredibly grateful for everyone’s support.”

The annual 10k challenge involved more than 3,000 participants across 20 towns and cities across the UK.
Sonya Trivedy, executive director of external engagement at Samaritans, said: “It was great to see in person how much Samaritans meant to everyone who took part in Sunday’s challenge.
“We’re so grateful for their efforts to raise money for our life-saving service. Every donation helps our volunteers continue to be there for anyone in crisis.
“We look forward to working with BAPS over the next year to continue raising awareness of the life-saving power of human connection and reach more people in need of support.”
