Preston-born filmmaker has helped inspire students to pursue careers in animation at the Animation Festival.
Nick Park CBE toured the University of Lancashire’s Animation Studio and watched on as pupils from Penwortham Priory took part in animation workshops.
His visit was the main event of the Preston animation Festival organised by the BA (Hons) Animation course leader, Maria Kkounnous.

Nick Park CBE said: “Attending the festival was a joy. Watching young people experiment, collaborate and tell original stories reminded me how vibrant the future of animation is.
“With accessible technology, strong academic courses and growing industry demand, there are more routes into a career in animation now than when I started and that gives me great hope for the next generation.”
The festival was rounded off by a screening of the Wallace and Gromit movie Curse of the Were-Rabbit, introduced by Nick Park CBE himself and there was an audience question and answer session prior.
Louise Shaw, lead teacher of art, craft and design at Penwortham Priory Academy, said: “Pupils showcased exceptional creativity during an animation workshop at the University of Lancashire, producing imaginative and engaging short films.
“A highlight of the day was meeting acclaimed animator Nick Park, who brought along the original Wallace and Gromit figures.
“He took time to speak with students about their work, offering encouragement and insight. The experience was truly inspiring and left a lasting impression on all involved.”
