Scotland-based singer and songwriter Ferdinand Rennie is inviting listeners to look beyond the melodies of some of the world’s most iconic songs with the release of his heartfelt new single, You Wrote Hallelujah. Now living on Scotland’s west coast, Rennie continues to build an international career while creating music that celebrates the emotional power of songwriting.
Written by Michael Andrew Storm and Meg McAndrew, and produced by Alan Vukelic alongside Rennie, You Wrote Hallelujah reflects on the stories that inspire timeless music. The song draws influence from legendary writers including Leonard Cohen and John Newton, exploring themes of faith, hope, redemption and the personal experiences that often shape unforgettable songs.
Although born in Graz, Austria, Ferdinand Rennie has proudly made Scotland his home. During a career spanning more than 30 years, he has appeared on television across Europe, starred in major musical theatre productions and performed for royalty. More recently, audiences also recognised him from his appearance on Britain’s Got Talent, where producers invited him to audition after discovering his online performances.
Music remains at the heart of Rennie’s life in Scotland. Through his independent label, Fabscots Music, he continues to write, record and release original music while connecting with audiences around the world. His latest release reflects not only his admiration for great songwriters but also his own belief that music has the power to comfort, inspire and bring people together.
As Scotland continues to nurture talented independent artists, Ferdinand Rennie’s latest release highlights the creativity and passion that thrive within the country’s music community. You Wrote Hallelujah offers a thoughtful tribute to the writers behind some of history’s greatest songs while reminding listeners that every unforgettable melody begins with a powerful human story.
