The Stags Head at Goosnargh closure confirmed ahead of new operator coming in

The closure of a popular village pub just outside Preston has begun while a refresh takes place under new management.

Star Pubs confirmed The Stags Head at Goosnargh will be closed until Monday (20 July).

Martin and Rowena Sanderson announced earlier this month they were calling time after nine years behind the bar.

As Blog Preston revealed the pub is going to be taken on by Peter Jackson who runs The Old Oak in Longridge, and remain a Star Pub, as he expands the number of pubs he oversees for them.

A spokesperson for Star Pubs says: “We can confirm that the licensee of The Old Oak, Longridge and The Rishton Arms in Rishton has taken on the running of The Stag’s Head in Goosnargh, which reopened after a few days handover with the same staff retained. The Star’s Head will be closed for a week from 13th July for a refresh which will including redecoration and new flooring.

“The plan is to re-open the following week and start offering food. Nathan Riddehough, the executive chef of The Old Oak and Rishton Arms, will be based at The Stag’s Head and will be launching a new exciting menu consisting of fresh home cooked dishes.”
