Free State Police have arrested a truck driver for possession of suspected stolen copper cables in Glen, outside Bloemfontein.
Police spokesperson, Thabo Covane says they received information about a truck transporting cables from Bloemfontein to Johannesburg.

The truck was intercepted after being spotted along the N1.
Covane says the cables were positively identified as the property of the Mangaung Metro Municipality’s power utility, Centlec.
More copper cables estimated to be worth more than R300000 were identified by Telkom and Eskom technicians.
The 43-year-old driver is expected to appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court, soon on charges of tampering and destroying essential infrastructure.
