Two men have been arrested after the unexplained death of a young woman in Longridge.

She was taken to hospital where she was later pronounced dead. Police are treating her death as unexplained and an investigation is ongoing.

As part of that investigation, a 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of coercive and controlling behaviour and was later further arrested on suspicion of manslaughter. He has been released with bail conditions.
A 23-year-old man was arrested in relation to the offence that was initially reported and prompted police attendance on Monday. He has been bailed with conditions. Police said they are unable to disclose what that offence was at this time.
A spokesperson for police said: “It’s important to express that our investigation is in its very early stages, and detectives are conducting a number of enquiries. We ask that people refrain from speculating online or otherwise and allow our officers to conduct their investigation appropriately and thoroughly.
“Anyone who believes they may have information to assist our investigation is asked to contact us through the appropriate methods.”
Lancashire Police say they have referred themselves to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) over the incident.
Blog Preston has asked why the decision was taken to refer the incident to the IOPC but a police spokesperson said it was “inappropriate to comment further at this time” but it was due to the officers being present at the time she became unwell.
An IOPC spokesperson said: “We are assessing a referral from Lancashire Constabulary to determine whether an investigation is required.”
