Winckley Street Ale House is venturing into the world of art with a new exhibition featuring local artists.

Art at the Ale House will launch with a meet-the-artist event on Wednesday 15 July from 7pm.

The exhibition builds on previous displays of photography, including Punk Portraits by Bernie Blackburn and another featuring the work of Preston Photographic Society (PPS) members.

Owner of Winckley Street Ale House, Paul Yates, is also a member of PPS.

Paul told Blog Preston: “It’s been great being able to showcase some of the work PPS undertakes, and the Punks exhibition last summer was very popular.

“I wanted some form of art to also be displayed, so I approached Paul Baxendale from Preston Art Society. I’m delighted that we will be displaying a range of artwork including watercolour, mixed media, and pastels.”

The exhibition of 16 pieces includes work by Preston Art Society members Paul Baxendale, Sue Mills, and Judith Tanczos, plus New Longton Artists John Croft and Pam Turner. Work by independent Lancashire artists Sue Redman, Pam Harvey, and Sue Searing will also be on display.

Each of the artworks is priced at £70.

Paul added: “Art at the Ale House is aimed at everyone. Come and have a look – you’ll be supporting local artists as well as the independent, family-run Ale House.”

The Art at the Ale House exhibition will run until the end of September. To find out more, visit the Winckley Street Ale House Facebook page.
