Police say a ‘full closure’ is in place and National Highways North West say two lanes of traffic are being held at the scene as emergency services work.

Delays are continuing to build as traffic approaches Junction 32 and heads off towards the A6 on a diversion route.

The crash appears to be just where the M6 Junction 32 slip road joins the northbound carriageway.

The M6 southbound is not affected at this time.

A police spokesperson said: “The motorway is likely to be closed for an extended period of time whilst we assess the situation.

“We will keep you updated here when possible, but we would recommend avoiding the area if possible. Thank you for your patience and support.”
