Junior Dion scored in the 38th minute for Arrows, who last lifted their historic and only major MTN8 trophy in 2009.
Abafana Bes’thende will now need to defend their one-goal advantage, while it will be a mountain for Sundowns to climb, with Arrows yet to concede a goal in four matches this season.
The Brazilians, who last lifted the MTN 8 trophy in the 2021/2022 season, face a must-score situation in the return leg.
