A running club has launched in Preston to encourage more people in the community to start exercising.
The Preston Shit Runners Club was launched earlier this month at Miller Park and is part of a community-led movement that began in January.
The movement, created by Preston-born Shaun Fagan, hosts weekly sessions designed to help people who lack the confidence to join a traditional running club.
The 60-year-old said: “I started the club because, as a brand new runner, I thought I’d sooner or later just quit. By having the responsibility of a whole club has kept me going.
In just under seven months, the idea has grown to include seven clubs across Cumbria, Lancashire and the North East.

Shaun added: “Bringing the Shit Runners Club home to Preston feels particularly special.
“Despite the name, we’re serious about making running and walking more accessible. There’s no pressure, no competition and no requirement to look good in Lycra.”
The new Preston club is to meet every Monday and Thursday at 6.30pm, with sessions taking place in Avenham and Miller Park.
