Prestonians are being invited to share their ideas for a greener, more connected future through a new community art project.
Climate Action Preston has launched Visions of Preston, an open art callout asking people of all ages to imagine how we could thrive in harmony with nature and each other.
Residents are encouraged to submit artwork created using any medium, including crayons, felt tips, paint, collage or digital designs. The submitted work will form part of an online exhibition and a touring exhibition displayed at venues around Preston.
The project invites people to think about familiar places in the city and how they could be transformed. Ideas could include creating more green spaces, turning empty buildings into community facilities, encouraging more walking and cycling, improving public transport, making space for wildlife, or reimagining areas such as the river banks, docks or former railway lines.
However, organisers say entries do not have to show realistic designs, with people also encouraged to create images of things they would simply like to see in the city, from plants and wildlife to imaginative ideas for a more sustainable future.

A spokesperson for Climate Action Preston said: “Think about places you know. These could be green places, or old buildings and building sites. What would you like to see there, that would be fun, or beautiful, and helpful to the planet or to wild creatures and plants?
“Don’t worry about how good you are at drawing or painting, just get your ideas across.”
