Disbarred attorney Peet Viljoen is expected back in the Pretoria Specialised Commercial Crimes Court today.

Viljoen, who is also a Reality TV personality, is facing close to 400 charges linked to the alleged fraudulent sale of Johannesburg Municipal properties worth approximately R27 million.

The alleged offences date back to 2010, with the State claiming that the properties were sold without the City of Johannesburg’s knowledge or consent.

The state alleges that forged documents were used to facilitate the transactions, while gratification was allegedly paid to a government official to enable the property transfers.

Viljoen was arrested at the OR Tambo International Airport on June 16, 2026, after he and his wife were deported from the US following their arrest for an alleged organised supermarket shoplifting scheme.

During his previous appearance, the State told the court that at least one of the other suspects was still being sought, while another had since died.

Prosecutors indicated that additional accused are expected to join Viljoen in court.

The defence has argued that the absence of the co-accused raised concerns about the progression of the case.

However, the magistrate dismissed the application to have the matter struck off the roll, with the state maintaining that it intends to prosecute those implicated.
