The funeral of 23-year-old Boitumelo Mashita, who was allegedly shot and killed by her estranged husband while on her way to work last Monday, is under way at her home in Thembisa, Ekurhuleni.
She is the 12th woman to be murdered in Ekurhuleni since July.
Mashita was shot dead in what police believed then to be a robbery, with her belongings taken during the incident.
However later in the day, her estranged husband was found dead inside his vehicle in Midrand, Johannesburg.
Police have since linked him to Mashita’s murder. It is believed that he may have ingested an unknown substance, as no foul play is suspected at this stage.
