A 75-year-old drug dealer from Gwynedd has been ordered to hand over more than £82,000 in cash and criminal assets following a Proceeds of Crime Act hearing.
Arthur Hughes, of Rachub, is currently serving a three-year and two-month prison sentence after being jailed in June for possession of heroin with intent to supply and possession of criminal property.
At a Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) hearing held at Caernarfon Crown Court on 12 October, the total value of Hughes’ criminal activity was estimated to be more than £151,730.
The court ordered the forfeiture of £82,401 in cash and criminal assets seized by police.
Drugs and associated paraphernalia discovered during a warrant carried out at Hughes’ home were also ordered to be destroyed.
The confiscation follows his conviction earlier this year and forms part of ongoing efforts to prevent criminals from benefiting financially from drug dealing.
PC Jacob Swift said: “We continue to pursue those who seek to profit from drug dealing and will use all the tools at our disposal to strip criminals of any assets they have acquired as a result of their activities.”
