The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for wind across large parts of Wales on Friday, with gusts potentially reaching 70mph or more in exposed areas.
Forecasters have warned that strong west to northwesterly winds could bring damaging gusts, travel disruption and the risk of power cuts, with periods of heavy rain expected to make conditions even more difficult.
Wind speeds of between 50mph and 60mph are possible across affected areas, while some coastal and exposed locations could experience gusts of 70mph or higher.
However, the Met Office has stressed that there is still uncertainty over exactly where the strongest winds will occur.
Although conditions are expected to remain breezy throughout the day, winds will probably begin to ease between late morning and early afternoon.
Which parts of Wales are affected?
The yellow warning covers 16 local authority areas across south, west and mid Wales.
These include Cardiff, Newport, Swansea, Bridgend, Vale of Glamorgan, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Caerphilly, Blaenau Gwent, Merthyr Tydfil, Torfaen, Monmouthshire, Neath Port Talbot, Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and Powys.
Residents and businesses across these areas are being warned of the potential for disruption as the strong winds move across the country.
Travel disruption and risk of damage
According to the Met Office, there is a slight chance that buildings could suffer damage, including roof tiles being blown off properties.
Flying debris could also pose a danger, with a small chance of injuries or danger to life.
Those planning to travel on Friday could face longer journey times or cancellations, with road, rail, air and ferry services potentially affected.
There is also a possibility that some roads and bridges may need to close due to the strength of the winds.
Power cuts are another concern, with the Met Office warning that disruption to electricity supplies could also affect other services, including mobile phone coverage.
Coastal communities are being urged to take particular care, as large waves could throw beach material onto seafronts, coastal roads and nearby properties.
Heavy rain is also expected at times, potentially making driving conditions more challenging.
People living in affected areas or planning to travel are encouraged to keep up to date with the latest Met Office forecasts and weather warnings as Friday approaches.
