COVID-19 isolation requirements could be eased for healthcare workers in New South Wales as the state braces for another day of high case numbers.
Up to 2000 health workers are currently unable to work and are self-isolating, as the health system continues to grapple with thousands of COVID-19 cases a day.
NSW recorded 6394 cases yesterday, another unwelcome record.

Although no deaths were recorded, hospitalisations rose sharply, from 388 to 458 in 24 hours.
The majority of people in intensive care are not vaccinated, NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard said.
Renewed restrictions have come into force across the state today, with QR codes returning for hospitality and retail check-ins.

The two-square metre rule will also be back in place for venues.
Meanwhile, thousands of people are on tenterhooks after 400 people were incorrectly told they were free of COVID-19.
The false test results were delivered by SydPath, which apologised for the error.
"As soon we became aware of the issue this morning, SydPath immediately commenced a process to contact impacted people," the company said in a statement.

"An emergency response team is now investigating the cause of this mistake, which is believed to be human error.
"We sincerely apologise to all those impacted."
People are being urged to avoid queueing for a PCR test if they are not required to and do not have symptoms.
