With all the struggles that come with navigating life as an adult, we bet that many people wouldn’t mind trading it to have another chilled life as a child.

While we dwell on that fantasy, let’s take a tour down memory lane with these festive things we all loved as kids.

1. Visits to Father Christmas

Nothing gladdens the heart of kids during Christmas more than having that ‘Father Christmas Experience’. We certainly had those days where we just wanted to receive Christmas presents and take pictures with Father Christmas to oppress our friends in school.

2. School’s Christmas Carol

Everyone has at least one great memory from the awesome Christmas Carols they had growing up. Practicing choreographies, carols, or performing in a drama presentation for the school’s carol service or party is the first sign that Christmas is around the corner.

3. Visiting Amusement Parks

Most people remember riding roller coasters at amusement parks during Christmas. Did you have a great childhood experience if you didn’t do this too? Amusement parks were one of the easiest places to bond with other kids, making it one of our cherished moments.

4. Spending Time With Family

While some kids enjoyed the festive season outside, some other kids enjoyed the good times of bonding with their parents and other relatives at home with delicious meals. This was particularly a fun time for people whose parents worked full time and hardly ever had time to just hang out with them. The festive season always proved to be the best time to just relax with their parents and watch fun christmas movies together on DStv.

5. Watching Our Favourite Shows On TV

Nothing beats the joy that comes with devouring chicken drumsticks on one hand and scrolling through various channels on DStv to watch our favourite shows. Those were the best of days and the easiest times in our lives. No lies, some of us are still catching this same cruise well into our 30s, only now, there’s no one to drag the remote control with.

6. Attending Children’s Christmas Parties

If you didn’t compete in a dance competition with other kids just to win a Christmas gift, you should really question your parents. That was where some people discovered their hidden talents in dance.

7. Getting Christmas Clothes and Shoes

The process of finally opening your first Christmas present, usually a new shoe and some new fits was literally the best thing ever. For some families, wearing brand new everything was the biggest flex. But now, those things have become nothing but a distant memory as many of those ‘fly’ kids are now adults who can’t remember when last they even got Christmas clothes.

8. Banger Experience With Other Kids

Conspiring with other kids to disturb the neighborhood with bangers is one moment that can’t be easily forgotten. Now, we’re the ones being reminded with knockouts and fireworks that it’s Christmas time.

9. Christmas Money From Rich Uncles/Aunties

We all calculated the monetary gifts we would receive from our uncles and aunties, only for our mothers to play us by taking the money from us. Then they’ll follow with the famous ‘Is it your money I’ve been using to take care of you?’ speech. Isn’t it amusing that we’ve become the new Aunties and Uncles buying gifts for our younger relatives?

Those were the most joyful times in our lives and it remains precious for that reason. Continue to choose Joy this season with all the fantastic entertainment DStv has lined up for you and your loved ones.
