In an ongoing drug trafficking investigation that began last year, ALERT Edmonton’s organized crime team searched homes in the neighbourhoods of Ermineskin and Terwillegar on Feb. 23, the organization said in a Wednesday news release.
Two firearms, body armour, 3.5 kilograms of fentanyl, 3.5 kilograms of cocaine, about 100 cartons of contraband cigarettes, and $47,845 in cash was seized from the homes.
“The drug trade is inherently violent. Firearms are used to instill fear, violence, and intimidation amongst rivals, but more often than not it is the community impacted,” said Acting Insp. Blayne Eliuk with ALERT Edmonton.
A 43-year-old man was arrested and is expected to be charged at a later date.
The investigation remains ongoing.
