Her former boyfriend, 28-year-old Robert Rickaby was arrested and charged for her alleged murder in Queensland today.

Ms Brimble said the outcome was a step forward for the family.

"I can start somewhat healing because I know my girl isn't coming back through the door," she said.

"She deserves justice and my granddaughter deserves to know there is justice for her mummy and that a bad person can't get away with this.

"She never deserved to be beaten and broken."

The accused has been charged and faced the Roma Street Magistrates' Court in Brisbane.

He will now be extradited back to Victoria.
