It’s fair to say that when Richard Madeley trends on Twitter, it’s usually because he’s given a public display of foot-in-mouth disease. This time was different.
On Good Morning Britain, he pressed the current – and probably short-lived – Education Secretary, James Cleverly, to answer some important questions put by himself and Charlotte Hawkins.
GMB shared clips.

Everything you have said in this interview, whether it’s been in a completed sentence or an interrupted one, you’ve made it quite clear nothing is going to happen until the autumn.
That’s the trouble.
The government has been accused of being asleep at the wheel as the rising cost of household energy forces people to choose between heating, eating and paying the rent, while ministers take holidays, throw lavish parties and argue over who should be the net PM.
Tweeters were right behind Richard Madeley.
Richard Madeley giving James Cleverly a spanking on #GMB feels a bit weird, tbh.

James Cleverly “I didn’t say that”
Richard Madeley “Well this is awkward because I’ve just quoted you verbatim as per what exactly what you just said 15 seconds ago…”
James Cleverly “Prove it”
