Family left 'living in fear' after house firebombed

A Sydney family have been left "living in fear" after their house was firebombed by a masked stranger on Friday night.

CCTV shows a man with a brick and a jerry can walking towards a home on Phillip Street, Panania.

He then appears to douse the window in petrol, smash the glass and throw a firebomb inside.

A fire started in the child's bedroom as the man sprinted away.

Neighbours described the street as normally "very quiet" and "very friendly".

The family wasn't home at the time and the fire didn't take hold inside the bedroom.

The owners said they have no enemies and have no idea why someone would want to burn their house down.

The firebombing is the second attack on the home in past nine months.

In a separate incident, another brick was thrown through the window.

Police are investigating if the two incidents are linked.
