Multiple police officers are believed to have been shot at in an incident at a Queensland property.

It's understood police were fired on while visiting the property at Wieambilla, about 300km west of Brisbane, to enquire about a missing person.

Queensland Police declared an emergency situation just after 6pm AEST.

9News reporter Jordan Fabris earlier said there were details of three officers being unaccounted for.

"Several police crews are in attendance at the property," Queensland Police said.

"Wains Road is closed, and the declaration zone encompasses the area between Chinchilla Tara Rd, Wieambilla Rd, Bennetts School Rd, and Mary Street.

"Residents within the declared areas must remain indoors until further notice, and motorists and pedestrians are advised to avoid the area.

"There is no further information at this time."

Police are yet to confirm any official updates on the emergency situation. A media conference has been scheduled for 10.30pm.
