The Oriens School Complex has held a durbar of teachers, parents and school children to mark its 8th  graduation.

The school’s cadet group thrilled the guests with a beautiful display while school choir sang some of their school songs.

Children from the nursery department put up a cultural display poem recital recitals.

The school which was established in 2013 at America Farm, a suburb of Ngleshie Amanfro in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Region started with 4 pupils.

But now, it can boast of 421 pupils with 211  boys and 210 are girls.

The school has three departments namely; Pre-school, Primary and Junior High School Departments.

Oriens Complex School is known by its  adequate facilities for academic work spacious environment, tilled and ventilated classrooms, a canteen, computer laboratory, science laboratory, a playground for recreation  a library  Just to mention a few.

In his welcome address, the Head teacher of the school, Mr. Maclean Mensah, expressed worry about the deplorable condition of the linking the school to the main road.

He said children cannot come to school when its rain a situation which affect academic work in the school he is therefor calling on authorities to do some thing about to save the situation.

Mr. Maclean Mensah said country is said to be in crises when it’s citizens are in intense  hardship adding that the current economic woes is affecting  daily lives of everyone with ripple  its effect  on private schools .

According to  this term alone hos school recorded a revenue loss running to tens of thousands of Ghana cedis.

Mr Mensah said the situation compelled the  management  to borrow  money to subsidize some its services.

Mr. Mensah said  fuel cost and foodstuff  became their major as their fuel expenditure doubled thereby affecting academic work of the school.

On this note, I want to make a passionate appeal to the appropriate authorities to come to the aid of private schools to help us alleviate the burden that comes with the current economic crises in the country.

Touting the school’s excellent performance Mr Maclean Mensah stated that despite the harsh economic challenges the school repeated its  100% distinction record in

  Basic Education Certificate Examination.

In all, the school recorded 108 Grade 1s, 49 Grade 2s, 15 grade 3s and only 9 Grade 4s. Breaking it down further, 7 students had between aggregate 06 – 09, 11 students had between aggregate 10 – 12 and only 3 students had aggregate 13 – 14.

He announced that  students gained admission at  the best Senior high Schools suchas  Presbyterian  boys SHS (presec-legon), St. Peters (Akwatia), Achimota School, Adissadel College, Aburi girls and Ghana National College.

On her part the Deputy Municipal Director Education  Faustina Naana Forson   advised parents  not to  use monies meant  for children’s education for other things and cautioned them to reduce  expenditure on social activities to enable  sail through  this economic hardship.

She advised them to move away from extravagant  ceremonies to save money for their children’s education since their future depends on the decision parents take today.

“In order to build a resilient economy, all hands must be on deck there must be sufficient checks and balances which will have a positive impact on our formal education in Ghana”
