A Perth mother has been left seriously wounded after a stranger allegedly attacked her with a hammer and wooden stake.

Fiona was allegedly attacked repeatedly with a hammer while trying to buy a bottle of water from a Rockingham petrol station early on Saturday morning.

“I turned around to him and he just looked [at me], he just said to me ‘do you want to get hammered?’,” Fiona said.

“I was on the ground, I just kept on pleading with him, telling him I have kids, and that I couldn’t die.”

Fiona attempted to get away but alleged she was hit “again and again”, and saw the man with a wooden stake and a knife.

The petrol station attendant called the police and locked the doors, meaning Fiona was stuck outside with the man.

“I’m just screaming let me in,” she said.

Fiona hid in nearby bushes after eventually making a dash for safety and waited there until the police arrived.
