Larry Louie: Local optometrist Larry Louie is one of Edmonton’s finest photographers, and his gallery on 124 Street is always worth a visit, full of his striking, high-contrast images taken from around the world. He describes one of the most striking of these, taken on a cool foggy morning in Kathmandu. “I remember how peaceful the place was,” says Louie. “The only sounds I could hear were the birds flying above, some soaring upwards me. Every time I look at this image it brings me a sense of calmness and hope. But at the same time, it reminds me of the devastating earthquake in 2015 that damaged this temple and killed thousands of people.” Read More
