Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, has said his team lost 3-4 to FC Copenhagen in the Champions League match on Wednesday due to harsh decisions by the referee.

Naija News reports that Red Devils striker, Rasmus Hojlund, scored twice within 30 minutes to give the Premier League side the lead.

However, the game changed after England international Marcus Rashford was shown a straight red card for a foul on FC Copenhagen defender Elias Jelert.

That came in the 42nd minute, and it was 2-2 at the break after Mohamed Elyounoussi and Diogo Goncalves scored for the hosts.

Bruno Fernandes put United back in front from the penalty spot, only for goals from Lukas Lerager and Roony Bardghi to give Copenhagen all three points.

Speaking after the game with TNT Sports, Erik ten Hag said the red card shown to Rashford changed everything about the game. He also criticised the award of two of the hosts’ goals.

He said: “The red card changed everything. It’s become a different game, but then you concede two goals that never should count.

“It was a very harsh decision; I’m sure he was going for the ball.

“I thought already the review was over, and then he went to the screen. So also, I think the referee wasn’t sure.”
