A man appears to have taken a selfie during an arrest after a police pursuit down Queensland's Bruce Highway that involved almost two dozen officers.

Police said the pursuit started at Mountain Creek on the Sunshine Coast and ended near Noosa this afternoon.

The man was allegedly involved in several dangerous traffic incidents, including stealing a truck.

Police are also investigating whether a handgun found after the pursuit is a replica.

"The truck was left on the Bruce Highway immobilised," Jason Overland from Queensland Police Service said.

"That's what caused the traffic hold up.

"Apologies if you were caught up in that but there is not much we can do about that."

Police said the pursuit started at Mountain Creek on the Sunshine Coast and ended near Noosa via the Bruce Highway this afternoon.

Witnesses counted at least 20 police cars in pursuit as the traffic separated to create a clear run for officers to drive past.

They said the man's driving was dangerous.

"He's gone flying over this speed hump, airborne," one witness said.

"Then he got to the other side and there's another speed bump."

After more than an hour, police arrested the man at about 1.30pm (AEST) and took him to Maroochydore Police Station.

The scene was calm during the arrest and helicopter footage showed the man even using his phone to apparently take a selfie as police put him in handcuffs.

Police said no one was injured.
