A grandfather stabbed to death in his Perth home in an incident that also injured his wife and their dog may have been the victim of a targeted attack.
Colin Norton, 81, and his 75-year-old wife Maggie were at their house in Greenwood, north of the CBD, about 8am on Monday when police found them with serious stab wounds.
Mr Norton died at the scene. Mrs Norton was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital where she remained last night.

A huge manhunt unfolded, locking down the surrounding suburbs and prompting an alert to residents to stay inside.
The major operation included police helicopters, the canine unit and local officers and detectives as they hunted for a suspect who was located about an hour and a half later on Forrest Hill Drive in Kingsley.
The 19-year-old was arrested and taken into police custody.

The couples' grandson lives with them and 9News understands he may have been the intended target of the attack and had been warned someone was coming to the house.
"Homicide detectives are in the early stages of their investigation however early indications suggest the parties are known to each other in some way," he said at a press conference today," Detective Inspector Gary Butler said
"We believe the man in custody may be linked to a family member."
Butler also said a "beloved" family dog had also tried to come to the aid of its owners but was also stabbed.
It was found wandering the streets and taken to a vet for treatment.
Investigations are ongoing.
