Police have made a desperate plea for information after a 28-year-old man was left for dead on a road at Tamarama near Bondi in Sydney's east.
Detectives suspect a hit and run but say they're not ruling anything out.
Emergency services were called to Fletcher Street in Tamarama, near Bondi, about 4am, where the man was found with extensive injuries to his head and chest.

Despite attempts to resuscitate him, he was unable to be revived.
Police say he is from the area and was walking along the street.
But exactly what happened and what caused his injuries are still in question.
One likely theory is a hit and run, Detective Acting Superintendent Adam Solah said.
"If you've been involved in any way or have any information we want you to contact police," he said.
"The family are obviously very upset and distraught and our hearts go out to them."
Fletcher Street was shut for more than eight hours as detectives, forensics and crash investigators left no stone unturned.
Parts of the road were marked while other evidence was bagged and taken away.
CCTV was seized from a nearby home, with officers keen to speak to the driver of a car and a pedestrian who may have witnessed the incident.
Neighbours told 9News they heard a loud bang or thud followed by a car alarm around the same time the incident was reported.
Witness Therese said she felt "a bit sick to my stomach actually, seeing this set up."
