A driver accused of hitting and killing an elderly pedestrian set his car alight using cleaning liquid and a lighter after the crash, police allege.
A man accused of striking a pedestrian in a fatal hit and run used cleaning liquid to later set the borrowed car alight, police say.
Joshua Alexander Scott allegedly ran a red turning signal at speed, before striking the 72-year-old at an intersection at Chermside in Brisbane's north yesterday morning.

The pedestrian suffered "significant injuries" and died on the way to hospital.
Scott, 35, allegedly slowed after the impact then sped off, running another red light before driving to nearby Wavell Heights, burning the car and throwing away his phone.
Police allege Scott then poured a bottle of flammable cleaning liquid on the driver's seat of the borrowed Honda CRV, and used a lighter to set the car on fire.
Scott was later arrested at his workplace in Geebung and charged with dangerous driving causing death, leaving the scene of incident without obtaining help and arson.
Scott's matter was briefly mentioned in Brisbane Magistrates Court today but he was not required to appear.
He was remanded in custody and the matter adjourned to April 15.
