Nigerian Mental Health Advocate Oyekoya Receives MBE at Windsor Castle

Nigeria mental health expert, Alfred Oyekoya, who is renowned for his grassroots community leadership and mental health advocacy has been honoured with Member of the British Empire (MBE) at Windsor Castle in a special ceremony attended by members of the British Royal Family.

Oyekoya, who accepted the prestigious award for his dedicated services to the community, was accompanied by his wife Mrs. Nancy Oyekoya and children.

The investiture ceremony, which was held at the Berkshire residence of His Majesty, King of England, Charles III also recognised other notable individuals for their outstanding contributions. The ceremony was presided over by Princess Anne Elizabeth Alice Louise.

Speaking after receiving, Oyekoya said: “Incredibly proud to have been awarded an MBE for services to community.”

He emphasised the collective effort behind the recognition, adding that: “This is very much shared with so many people who also dedicate their time and energy to inspiring a mentally healthy community.”

Meanwhile the Royal Family in its official twitter page congratulated all recipients.
