Dancing Plague: All are invited to dress up this evening of darkwave, electronic body music, post-industrial and synth-punk — a brooding sample of the acts at the upcoming Verboden Festival in Vancouver next week!

Portland’s gothy-coldwave Dancing Plague headlines, with minimal synth artist Total Chroma from Vancouver and Montreal’s lo-fi, electro-industrial Renounce, plus beat-driven locals Visitor and bouncy synth-pop wizard Markus Midnight. This show looks absolutely amazing, keeping that black flame flickering undead in the night.

Dawn of the Dead (1978): Speaking of darkness! Considered by many to be the best zombie film of all time, George E. Romero’s followup to Night of the Living Dead is a savvy take on the excesses of consumerism, largely set in one of those new “shopping centres” popping up all over North America.

Bikers, police and of course scores of pasty-purple zombies duke it out in this frenzied portrait of civilization in decline in this new, 45th anniversary restoration.
