Burna Boy is set to make his debut as a film producer as he collaborates with fast-rising South African filmmaker Mandla Dube to executively produce the thriller film ‘Three Cold Dishes.’
‘Three Cold Dishes,’ which will be executively produced through Spaceship Films and co-produced by Black Mic Mac, tells the story of three teenagers who were sold into the sex trade, who reunited 13 years later to plot their revenge.
Directed by Asurf Oluseyi, the 2016 winner of the AMVCA Best Short Film Award and director of the 2017 film ‘Hakkunde,’ the show boasts of a range of producers, including Ifind, Alma Prods., Asurf Films and Martian Network.
“This film is a testament to the strength and resilience of its characters, and it took us blood and sweat to get it to this stage,” Oluseyi told Variety as he described the film as “the biggest pan-African film yet” and “an African cinematic journey like no other.”
Three Cold Dishes is a part of Black Mic Mac’s current production project aimed at championing African and Middle Eastern talent. The project was launched in 2023 by production and sales vet Pape Boye, and Logical Pictures.
Burna Boy joins a growing list of Nigerian music stars who are making their debut in the film industry. Recently, Tiwa Savage also released her film, ‘Water and Garri.’
