Grammy-winning rock icon Lenny Kravitz has been unveiled as the executive producer behind Seun Kuti & Egypt 80’s forthcoming album, slated for release on October 4, 2024.
In a statement released by Italy-based imprint Record Kicks, the album will be jointly produced with Fela Kuti’s original producer and engineer, Sodi Marciszewer.
“Seun Kuti, the youngest son of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, has been a powerful force in the Afrobeat scene, continuing his father’s legacy while forging his own path. This new album promises to be a milestone in the genre,” Record Kicks said.
In addition, Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 will join the Record Kicks roster, which include international acts such as Calibro 35, Hannah Williams, Alexis Evans, The Sextones, and many more.
As a group, Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 released their last album, Black Times, in 2018. The album, nominated at the 61st Grammys Best World Music Album category, was a socially conscious album that debuted at number eight on the Billboard World Music Chart.
