The lawsuit claims Amazon violated state laws by underpaying overtime wages for nearly seven years.
Plaintiffs claim employees who received a signing bonus and/or sign-on bonus in the same week when they worked overtime were underpaid.
The case argues that the regular pay rate should have been calculated to include any bonuses.
This only affects employees who worked overtime between July 22, 2017, and November 7, 2023.
Amazon denied any wrongdoing but did agree to the multi-million dollar settlement to resolve the issue.
Class members can receive a cash payment based on the amount Amazon allegedly owes them in overtime wages.
No claim form is required, and settlement payments will be automatically sent out.
Payments will vary but are expected to be $565.43 on average.
MORE MONEY
Juul, the electric cigarette company, was ordered to pay $300 million to eligible Americans after a class action lawsuit was filed.
Plaintiffs alleged that Juul Labs and Altria had concealed safety concerns and participated in false advertising.
The lawsuit accused the companies of neglecting to include information in marketing that noted the addictive qualities and health impacts of Juul use.
The suit also alleged the companies targeted minors with advertisements.
Both companies denied any wrongdoing but agreed to the payout. Juul Labs paid $255 million, and Altria paid $45 million.
Now that payments have begun going out, several claimants have said they’ve had problems collecting the money.
