Several heads of State and government to attend Modi’s oath taking ceremony on June 9

Colombo, June 8: The swearing-in ceremony of the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Council of Ministers following the General Elections 2024 is scheduled on 09 June 2024. On that occasion, leaders from India’s neighbourhood and the Indian Ocean region have been cordially invited as distinguished guests.

The President of Sri Lanka, Ranil Wickremesinghe; the President of Maldives, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu; the Vice-President of Seychelles, Ahmed Afif; the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina; the Prime Minister of Mauritius,  Mr. Pravind Kumar Jugnauth; the Prime Minister of Nepal, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’; and the Prime Minister of Bhutan, Tshering Tobgay, have accepted the invitation to attend.

In addition to participating in the swearing-in ceremony, the leaders will attend a banquet hosted by President Smt. Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the same evening.

The visit of the leaders to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his third consecutive term is in keeping with the highest priority accorded by India to its ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy and ‘SAGAR’ vision.
