Manhunt underway after female runner attacked near Brisbane

Police are searching for a man who attacked a female runner near Brisbane.

The woman was running around the Maculata Track at Mount Coot-Tha yesterday afternoon when she was pushed to the ground and held down by a man.

The attacker then fled when he heard footsteps of approaching people.

Bystander Arana Taumata told 9News he found the woman on the ground after the attack.

Taumata stayed with the woman until police arrived.

The woman described her attacker to police as wearing dark pants, and a dark hoodie.

The man was described as being 170 cm tall and having dark brown hair.

This is the second incident where an attack on a woman has been reported on Mount Coot-Tha in the past month.

In a statement, Queensland Police said investigators didn't believe the two incidents were linked.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
