A shop selling plant-based herbal vitamins could soon open in the city centre.

Plans have been submitted to Preston City Council and if approved would see a former city taxi office transformed to house the shop. Applicant Mr F Faraj wants to convert the spot on Fox Street previously used by Eagle Taxis.

According to the application, the property has most recently been used as an education centre. It is argued there are several vacant premises in the area and the change in use “necessary to attract businesses that do not rely on the greater visibility  the high street would offer”.

The application concludes: “This application does not represent any issues from the proposed change of use from a taxi office to a retail shop given its general location off the high street and the variety of uses in the locality.

“The change of use will return a partially vacant property in to a retail shop unit for a shop  specialising in natural plant based herbal vitamins. The change in use will also change  the hours of operation from a 24/7 operation to traditional retail opening hours to the  benefit of the flats on the upper floors.”
