Man ‘dragged 100 metres by ute’ in deadly alleged road rage

A man has died after being struck and dragged the length of a football field by a ute during an alleged road rage attack west of Sydney, and the driver is yet to be arrested.

Emergency services were called to Jersey Road in Blackett about 8.45am to find a 27-year-old man critically injured.

Police said the victim, who was dressed in hi-vis, was hit by the ute and dragged about 100 metres before the vehicle fled the scene.

Paramedics attempted to treat the man but he died of his injuries.

Inspector Shane Ranee told reporters investigations are in its early stages but police believe the incident to be road rage-related.

"Apparently the victim had gotten out of the vehicle after being threatened by the car following him, and obviously words were said," Ranee said.

Police have established a crime scene in Blackett and an investigation is under way

"It's devastating and bad for the victim's family."

Police have released CCTV of a white ute in an appeal for information to locate the driver.

The vehicle is described as having a metal tray, a black canopy and a black toolbox with metal racks on top.

"I appeal for the driver to please come forward and hand yourself into police because we will find you," Ranee said.
