A popular Walton-le-Dale bar is hosting a ‘Sunday roast pop-up’ on 14 July following the success of the first event.

Taps and Wine Bar, Chorley Road, Walton-le-Dale, brought in local chef and caterer Shane Whitaker for the first Sunday roast pop-up on 23 June and, due to the success of at that venture, he is back again next week.

And he has big plans for the bar and restaurant’s food offering moving forward.

Shane was formally the head chef at Clockwork Bistro, Ashton, and runs his own business, Assiette Catering, which caters for larger functions and weddings, as well as having its own converted horsebox which it can take out to events.

He said: “We are going to start with our Sunday roast menu and then offer both food upstairs in the restaurant and downstairs in the bar [throughout the week].

“We have created a menu which people who are downstairs can choose from and then an la carte menu for upstairs in the restaurant.”

In time, Shane wants to bring a more settled menu to the upstairs restaurant at Taps and Wine Bar, with plans to do special nights throughout the week, such as steak nights, pie nights, as well as a light bites offering.

The 14 July Sunday roast pop-up runs from noon until 7pm and places can be booked by contacting Shane directly. You can visit the Assiette Catering Facebook page or the @assiettecatering Instagram feed for more details on how to book.
