Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has said his administration would ensure all Trunk A roads in the city and rural areas are paved.
Peter Mbah said this on Saturday night, while speaking to newsmen after receiving the Distinguished Award for Infrastructure, presented to him by Vice President, Kashim Shettima, at the Nigeria Excellence Awards in Public Service (NEAPS) from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
Governor Mbah said the award on infrastructure was a call on his administration to do more, stating that “success abhors complacency“.
“We are humbled by the fact that our modest efforts to revamp our roads and other infrastructure are gaining recognition.
“However, success abhors complacency. So, this award is going to spur us to do even more. We are going to hit the road to ensure that all the Trunk A roads in our city and rural areas are paved.
“As you’re probably aware, besides the initial 71 urban roads, and the ongoing major inter-local government roads, some of which will equally serve as gateways to our neighbouring regions, we are commencing work on 80 other roads. In addition, our target is to construct at least 10km of roads in every of our 260 electoral wards,” he said.
The governor of Enugu State further thanked the federal government for support and cooperation. “We are ever grateful to Ndi Enugu and the Federal Government for their ceaseless support and cooperation. We appreciate them for recognizing our efforts at turning around the fortunes of our beloved state,” he added.
