President Bola Tinubu has accepted an invitation from Chinese President, Xi Jinping to pay a state visit to China in September.
The invitation was delivered by China’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chen Xiaodong, at the Aso Villa on Thursday.
This development was disclosed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a statement issued via his official X handle on Friday.
According to the statement, President Tinubu expressed his hope that the visit would strengthen Nigeria-China bilateral relations and the proposed currency swap agreement, which is expected to enhance economic cooperation between the two nations.
Onanuga revealed that the First Lady of Nigeria, Remi Tinubu is invited to join the entourage during the trip.
“Chen, who came with a large entourage, said President Xi would also welcome First Lady Remi Tinubu during the visit,” the statement added.
The upcoming state visit is anticipated to cover discussions on various aspects of bilateral relations, including trade, investment, infrastructure development, and other areas of mutual interest.
China has been a significant partner in Nigeria’s development, particularly in infrastructure projects. The invitation underscores the importance of the relationship between the two countries and the potential for further collaboration.
