Dean, 37, pleaded guilty in Perth Magistrates Court in July 2023.
The judge today described the attack as "one of the most serious examples of domestic violence".
Lasakar's sister Diana shared her family's on-going pain despite the sentencing.
"No matter how many years he's in there, it doesn't bring our sister back," she said.
Dean will be eligible for parole after 20 years.
