Nollywood actor, Yomi Fabiyi, has called for a peaceful protest to seek justice for the late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known as Mohbad.
Naija News reports that the movie star, in a post via his Instagram page, emphasized the need for unity and peaceful protest, advising his followers to disregard negative comments and focus on the goal of seeking justice.
Fabiyi urged the public to attend the next court date for the ongoing coroner inquest into Mohbad’s death and register their demands.
He added that if no progress is made after their visit to the coroner’s inquest, then they will focus on the first anniversary of Mohbad’s death as a future opportunity to continue the call for justice.
He wrote, “Let us be united in one voice to achieve this goal and get closure. IGNORE OR DELETE NEGATIVE VIBES, this is social media. Not every comment from accounts should look like authentic public perception or opinion. Some are distractions.
“Let’s storm the court peacefully and attend the next coroner inquest and protest to register our demands on this case. If nothing tangible is seen or heard, we focus on the day of the one-year anniversary.”
‘Suspend Such Ideas’
Meanwhile, Mohbad’s family has kicked against plans to mark the anniversary of the late musician.
Naija News reports that Mohbad died on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27, with the circumstances surrounding his death still lingering.
A statement signed by a member of the family’s legal team, Monisola Odumosu, urged organisations and individuals planning to celebrate Mohbad’s first anniversary to suspend the ideas.
The family said they would rather mourn Mohbad in peace as it does not seek to reopen old wounds.
According to the family, some individuals and organisations might plan to use Mohbad’s memory for commercial purposes.
