The partner of a man whose body was pulled from the water at a popular boat ramp in South Australia has remembered him as down to earth, funny and caring.
Emergency services were called to the Port Pirie ramp near Main Road, Solomontown just after 6am today after the body was discovered in the water.
He has been identified as 50-year-old local man Simon Harris.

His partner, who asked not to be identified, was with him last night and said he "seemed alright".
Today she was left heartbroken.
"He's a good bloke, he'd help anybody, yeah, if you were down and out he'd help you, made you laugh, he cared about everyone," the woman said.
"He was down to earth.
"He'll be missed and by his family."

The community is also processing his death.
"It's a bit of a tragedy because its a tight-knit community and we have a lot of people that know everyone else," one woman said.
What happened between last night and this morning is unclear.

Police don't believe his death was suspicious but are yet to determine how he ended up in the water.
9News understands police are examining nearby CCTV while divers scour the area around the boat ramp as part of the investigations.
They are also examining a bike, which Harris is believed to be riding before his death.
